We never want cost to be the reason a kid misses out on camp. If it's what's holding your family back, please apply.
Why it exists
Every kid deserves a great summer.
Our campership program covers some or all of the camp fees for kids whose families need a hand. Outdoor adventure should be open to every kid, not only the ones whose families can pay without thinking twice.
The fund comes from donors who've asked to stay anonymous. They give so that kids can get to camp, and applying is how that happens.
Every application is reviewed with care and kept private. If cost is a barrier, please apply.

Your kid goes to camp
They show up, have a great time and come home with new skills. Afterward, we ask for a short thank-you letter, which we pass on to the donors who made it possible.
This fund exists because of people who care about kids getting outside.
Our camperships are paid for by donors who've chosen to stay anonymous. You know who you are, and we're so grateful.

Is my family eligible?
If camp costs are a real barrier for your family right now, yes. There's no income cutoff and no proof of income. We take your word for it.
If you're on the fence, apply. The worst that happens is we have a conversation.
Which camps can a campership be used for?
Any AIL camp: Kamloops Bike, Adventure, Bushcraft and Nature Camps, and our Girls Adventure Camps in Kamloops, Vernon, Kelowna and Cranbrook. It's one application per child per season, so if you have more than one child, send an application for each.
How much support is available?
It depends on what's in the fund and how many families apply. Some families get partial support and some get full coverage. Tell us in your application what level of support would make camp possible, and we'll be honest about what we can offer.
What's the thank-you letter?
After camp, we ask families to write a short letter about what their child experienced. We pass it on to the donors who fund camperships. A paragraph or two from you or your child is perfect, and it helps keep the fund going for future families.
Is my application private?
Yes. Only Andrea and Stacey see applications. Coaches, other families and other kids won't know your child is at camp on a campership.
Are there other ways to get help with camp costs?
Sometimes. Depending on your situation, there may be outside funding programs that can help, and you can apply to those and to our campership at the same time. Reach out and we'll point you in the right direction.
When should I apply?
As early as you can. Kamloops summer camp registration for 2027 opens in January, and campership funding is limited, so applying early gives us time to confirm support before camps fill. If camp is close, still apply and we'll do our best.
