Our campership fund is supported by private donors and local businesses who want to see every kid in Kamloops have access to outdoor adventure — regardless of what their family's financial situation looks like right now.
If you're in a position to contribute to the fund and help another family's child get outside this summer, we'd love to hear from you. Get in touch — every contribution goes directly to sending a kid to camp.
If the cost of camp is a genuine barrier for your family right now, you're eligible to apply. We don't use a fixed income threshold or require proof of income — we take your word for it and trust that you're applying because you need support, not because you want to avoid paying.
Families whose financial circumstances make camp impossible — not just inconvenient — are exactly who this fund is for. If you're on the fence about whether to apply, apply. The worst that can happen is we have a conversation.
Campership funding can be applied to any AIL camp program — Bike Camp, Adventure Camp, Bushcraft Camp, Nature Camp, and Girls Adventure Camps. One application per child per camp season. If you have multiple children who need support, please submit a separate application for each child.
The amount of support available depends on the fund at any given time and the number of applications we receive. Some families receive partial support, others receive full coverage. In your application you can tell us what level of support would make camp possible for your family — that helps us allocate funding where it's most needed.
We can't guarantee a specific amount in advance, but we will always be honest with you about what we're able to offer and work with you to find a solution.
Yes — after camp, we ask campership recipients to write a short letter sharing what their child experienced and what it meant to them. These letters go to the donors and supporters who fund the campership program. They're the people who make it possible for your child to be there, and hearing directly from families is meaningful to them.
It doesn't need to be long or formal — a genuine paragraph or two from you or your child is perfect. It's the one thing we ask in return, and it helps keep the fund alive for future seasons.
Completely. Applications are reviewed only by Andrea and Stacey. No one at camp — coaches, other families, other kids — will know your child attended on a campership. Your financial situation is your business and we treat it that way.
Yes — depending on your situation, there may be additional external funding programs that can help cover camp costs. We work with various funding sources and are happy to point you in the right direction based on your family's circumstances. Reach out and we'll have a conversation about what might be available to you.
Applying to our campership fund and exploring external funding are not mutually exclusive — you can do both.
Apply as early as possible — campership funding is limited and allocated on a first-come basis once we've reviewed applications. Applying early also gives us time to confirm your support before the camp session fills up. If you're applying close to a camp start date, still apply — we'll do our best to make it work.
Fill out the form below and we'll be in touch. Everything is handled with care and complete confidentiality. There's no wrong reason to apply — if cost is a barrier, this fund is for you.
