Common Questions
Before you book, during your planning, or right now when you're on the fence — here are the answers.
It depends on the retreat. Our Valemount retreat welcomes all levels — from women who are comfortable on gravel paths and want to progress, to experienced riders tackling technical terrain. We run ability-based groups so every rider is on trails that challenge them appropriately and has a coach matched to where they are.
Our Chasing Fall retreat at Vedder Mountain is also open to all levels. As we introduce new retreats with different focuses, some will be designed for specific ability ranges — those will be clearly noted on the retreat page. When in doubt, reach out and we'll give you an honest answer about whether a specific retreat is right for where you're at.
Each retreat has its own inclusions — check the individual retreat page for the full breakdown. Generally, our overnight retreats include coaching, guided riding, shuttle service, accommodation, and most meals. We spell it out clearly on every retreat page so there are no surprises.
Expect to show up not knowing anyone and leave with people you want to ride with again next year — that genuinely happens every time. The combination of shared challenge, small groups, and time away from regular life creates connection that's hard to manufacture anywhere else.
Expect great riding, good coaching, good food, and at least one moment where you surprise yourself on the bike. You don't need to be a seasoned retreat-goer. You just need to show up.
You'll need to bring your own mountain bike — a trail or all-mountain bike works well for most of our retreats. A properly fitted helmet is required. Specific bike recommendations are shared when you register, based on the terrain for that retreat. If you're unsure whether your bike is appropriate, get in touch before registering.
Yes — all of our BC MTB retreats are women only, led by female coaches. This isn't about exclusion. It's about creating a space where women can try things, ask questions, make mistakes, and push themselves without an audience. In our experience, that environment produces something different on the bike and off it. It's worth protecting.
Most people do. Seriously — the majority of women who come on retreat show up solo. By day two, you won't feel like it. Our retreats are structured to help people connect naturally, and the shared experience of riding together has a way of collapsing social distance quickly. Coming solo is one of the best things you can do for yourself.
You should be able to ride for several hours over multiple days — our retreats involve full days on the bike. You don't need to be an athlete, but being generally active and comfortable riding for a few hours helps. We ride as groups with coaches, so pace is managed — nobody gets left behind. If you're training for a retreat and want advice, just ask us.
The specific cancellation policy for each retreat is outlined on the registration page and in your confirmation email. Generally, cancellations made well in advance may be eligible for a full or partial refund, while late cancellations may forfeit the deposit. Read the policy before booking — and if life happens, talk to us. We're people, not a policy machine.
Yes. All of our coaches hold certification through the Global Syndicate of Mountain Bike Coaches (GSMBC) or the Professional Mountain Bike Instructors Association (PMBIA). They're not just strong riders — they're trained to break down skills, manage group dynamics, and get real results for every participant. All coaches also hold current first aid certification.
We've been running women's retreats for five years. We know what makes them work and what doesn't. Small groups, ability-based riding, coaches who are genuinely invested in your progression, and an environment where the vibe matters as much as the riding — that's what we build every time.
We're not a big operation that runs retreats as a side project. This is what we do, and it shows in the details. Our Valemount retreat sells out every year because the women who come keep coming back and keep telling their friends.
Registration links are on each individual retreat page. Spots are limited — our retreats typically have 12 to 30 participants depending on the event — and they fill quickly. The best way to hear about new dates before they sell out is to join the email list below. Waitlists are available when a retreat is full, and spots do open up.
We're expanding beyond overnight retreats — watch for new single full-day experiences and 2-day weekend mini-retreats hitting BC communities throughout the season.
