What This Is
She's an active woman who mountain bikes. She's good at it. She also hasn't prioritized it the way she used to. Life got full, her bike collects a little more dust than it used to, and that part of herself — the one who craves hard singletrack and new terrain and the particular aliveness that comes from riding somewhere wild — has been waiting.
"You already know who you are on a bike. Wild Terrain gives you seven days in the Costa Rican jungle to live inside that version of yourself — fully, without apology."
Wild Terrain is designed for intermediate to advanced riders who are comfortable on natural terrain, handling roots, rocks, and technical features. You should be riding regularly and confident on trails before you come. Costa Rica's terrain will challenge you and reward you — in that order.
The Riding
Your Home Base
You're staying here. Trails at your door, two pools, stunning views over the jungle. Buen Camino is one of Costa Rica's standout destinations — purpose-built for riding, with terrain to match every day of the week. You'll ride here multiple days and it won't get old.
Day Missions
Two day trips to one of Costa Rica's other premier riding spots, with its own character and trail variety. Different terrain, different jungle, same level of incredible. Local guides who know every corner make all the difference.

Everything Handled

Every meal from dinner on arrival night through closing lunch on day 6, plus packed lunches on riding days. Including a few themed dinners that make evenings as memorable as the trails.
Van from San José on arrival day, all transfers between riding locations, and transport to the airport hotel on departure eve. Get yourself to San José and we handle the rest.
Guides who pre-ride every route before you arrive so all you have to think about is riding. They know these trails intimately. You're in good hands from day one.
Bring your own bike and we'll help you rebuild it on arrival day so you're trail-ready from the first ride. Rental options available for those who need them.
We shuttle at the parks. Climbing in jungle heat is a different experience than climbing at home — you're here to ride descents, not grind uphills in 35-degree humidity. More laps, more fun, less suffering.
Choco Tour, river swimming, Atenas farmers market, coffee tour. The riding is the main event. But the week around it is also genuinely great.
Who This Is For
You've been mountain biking for years. You know what it feels like to be in flow on a trail, to push through something hard, to finish a ride and feel more yourself than when you started.
You also haven't been riding as much as you'd like. Life has a way of filling the space that used to be yours. This trip exists to take that space back — in one of the best places in the world to ride a bike.
This is not a trip to learn to mountain bike. It's a trip to remember why you love it.
"I was pleasantly shocked — I could never have imagined the trip I was about to embark on. I didn't have to worry about money, food, accommodation, activities, transportation, or safety. I'm so grateful to have experienced this all-encompassing retreat."— Michelle P., past retreat guest

The riding questions. The logistics questions. The "am I good enough for this" questions. Let's go through them.
Wild Terrain is designed for intermediate to advanced riders — women who ride regularly, are comfortable on natural terrain with roots, rocks, and technical features, and can handle sustained descents on trail bikes. You don't need to be a racer or a pro. But you should be riding consistently and feel genuinely confident on singletrack before you come.
Costa Rica's terrain will challenge you. That's part of what makes it incredible. If you're unsure whether your current level is a good fit, reach out before joining the waitlist and we'll give you an honest answer.
Buen Camino Bike Park in San Mateo is a purpose-built destination park with trails across the full difficulty spectrum — from flowing blue-grade descents to technical black runs with roots, drops, and proper jungle loam. It's a proper bike park with lift and shuttle access, built into steep jungle terrain with views that make you stop and look.
Senderos Colón is a different style of riding — more natural trail, forest singletrack, and the kind of terrain that rewards good bike handling. Both parks are serious destinations that draw international riders. Together they give the week real variety and keep things interesting through the full eight days.
You should bring your own trail or enduro bike — something with at least 130mm of travel front and rear, good brakes, and that you know and trust on technical terrain. This is not a place for a cross-country hardtail. A well-maintained trail bike in good working order is the minimum; an enduro rig will reward you on the rowdier lines.
We help you rebuild your bike on arrival day and there's support on hand throughout the week for basic mechanical needs. If you need to rent a bike, rental options are available at the park — reach out and we'll help you sort it. Bring your own pedals and helmet regardless.
Once you arrive in Costa Rica, everything is handled: accommodation at Buen Camino, all meals from arrival dinner through departure lunch, all ground transportation between San José and the riding locations, local guides, shuttles at both parks, bike build assistance, and all off-bike experiences.
You organize one thing: your international flight to San José. We'll give you specific arrival and departure times once your spot is confirmed. That's the full list of things you need to sort yourself.
Shuttles are included because riding in jungle heat at 30–35 degrees is a genuinely different experience than climbing at home. The goal is more laps, more trail time, and arriving at the top of each descent with legs that can actually ride it well. That said, if you want to pedal a climb, that's your call — the option is there.
Completely normal. Most women on this retreat come solo. Eight riders in a week of shared riding in a foreign country has a way of collapsing distance between people very quickly. By day two you won't feel like a stranger. Shared suffering on a technical trail, followed by a good meal and cold drinks, is one of the fastest ways humans connect. That's by design.
Real food built to support active days. Buen Camino serves proper meals — not packaged convenience food. Expect fresh local ingredients, good proteins, and the kind of eating that leaves you fuelled rather than heavy. Packed lunches on trail days are substantial and thought through. There are also a couple of themed dinners through the week that are genuinely worth looking forward to.
If you have dietary restrictions or allergies, flag them when you join the waitlist and we'll confirm before you book.
Yes — and for a riding trip specifically, make sure your policy covers mountain biking as an activity. Standard travel insurance sometimes excludes adventure sports. You want emergency medical, evacuation coverage, and trip cancellation protection. We'll provide specific guidance on what to look for when you confirm your spot. This is not optional.
Full pricing will be shared with waitlist members when registration opens. The retreat is all-inclusive once you land in San José — accommodation, all meals, all transportation, guides, shuttles, and off-bike experiences are covered. Your international flights are separate. A deposit holds your spot with the balance due closer to departure. Full details will be spelled out clearly when registration opens. Joining the waitlist carries zero financial commitment.
Full cancellation terms will be provided when registration opens and clearly included in your booking confirmation. Generally, cancellations well in advance may be eligible for a partial or full deposit refund; cancellations closer to departure depend on whether your spot can be filled. This is exactly why mountain biking-specific travel insurance matters — it protects your investment if something unexpected happens between booking and February.
Nothing. Your name on a list means you hear about pricing and registration before it opens to the public, and you get first access to the 8 spots. That's it. No payment, no obligation.
